  • Thanks. But I don’t see the options for file extensions under the dropdown menu. They offer mp4, mpeg4, and QuickTime Movie, but no .mov or .avi etc. I’ve started the smart collection to see what it will come up with. (It’s processing now.)

Ivan, as for your idea within the finder, my problem is that the drive has multiple folders. First for the year it was taken, then the family or photographer. I can’t seem to separate out the video files more than one folder at a time. Any thoughts?

    Martin and Roland,

Thank you for your replies. I’ve been working through the lynda.com tutorials, but wasn’t aware there were tutorials on the Imagineer Systems website. (As for Google video tutorials, I prefer not to be trained by twelve year-olds, no matter how bright the kids are.) I’ll work through this over the next couple of days and let you know if I still need help. Thanks again.

Thanks. But as near as I can tell, that requires me to have a clip selected to see its markers. The problem is, with hundreds of clips, I’m not sure which ones have markers. Is there no way of knowing which clips have markers associated with them?

It sounds like Adobe Prelude may be my answer provided the learning curve isn’t too steep. Is there a quick tutorial somewhere on ingesting AVCHD?

Thanks. That’s pretty much what I’ve done, and it’s worked. But the problem is leaving the original clips on the card, then shooting more video. Is there any way to avoid re-transferring the original clips the second time around?

It would logarithmically eat up my hard drive space unless I delete the original files. It seems crazy.

    That did the trick. Thanks!

Thanks. Fortunately, the clip I’m using of the baby is a loop of him holding reasonably still. So “muscling those keyframes” has only been somewhat arduous, rather than grotesquely arduous. 🙂
