    It should also be noted that so far, the successful replication was created using MPEG-2 and PCM AUDIO streams, NOT Dolby Digital AC3.

    We have also tested AVC encoding from Encore, and it would appear those streams have passed pre-replication testing, and stream verification as well, which is a VERY cool development.

    What we’re waiting on is the final solution for Encore to output AC3 streams that are properly-identified for BD Replication.

    Those streams appear to work on recordables (BD-R/RE), but the testing for replication mastering is MUCH more stringent.

  • I think they are referring to making a Dual Layer disc by Replication – there’s no need to write DLTs (Digital Linear Tapes) if you are merely going to BURN a disc. DLTs are used to deliver dual-layer masters to replication facilities for mastering.
