I’m already aware of this and willing to upgrade if need be. Or perhaps I can get a second boot drive that is running OSX 10.7?

I’m going to show our creative what I’ve done so far and if they feel the need to replicate the design exactly, I’ll probably turn to that software to do it. Thank you so much for all the help!

July 17, 2012 at 6:47 pm in reply to: Individual Particle Properties in CC Particle World? Can’t find anything there regarding Specular. If I make them 3D layers I can adjust it in Material Options, but not with very great results. It’s again a change made across the particles as a group as opposed to in each individual particle. I’ve added some extra effects on the Shape layer I’m using as my texture, but as you’d guess, the shadows and specular hits aren’t dynamic so the shadows and specular hits are “static” on the layer. Also, I have to really push the effect on the Shape layer to make anything come through in my Comp with the Particle Explosion. What looks incredibly blown out in one Comp looks barely noticeable in the other. I’m hitting a wall with my AE knowledge so I’m not sure what to do to ramp this up a bit.
Would CS6 help? Working in a real 3D environment?

Not to sound like a total novice, but I have no idea how to do that. I’m using a Decklink Studio card if that helps. It’s hooked into a Panasonic monitor through HDMI.

Working with a LUT (LUT Buddy in this instance) still creates the need for rendering in both FCP and Premiere. 3 seconds of video takes “about a minute” to load in FCP. I guess it’s inevitable.

I had initially but it seemed as if Nick’s plugin was a faster “plugin and play” option. In Premiere, I used the Cineon converter and had realtime playback to an external monitor, no rendering. Wondering if that’s the way to go.
And cool about the metadata. I suppose I could relink later to get it all back, but it’s an extra step that I’d rather not go through if I don’t have to.

Completely by accident hit the check mark “solution” button…
Thanks for posting Shane! I really found that blog post helpful. Sorry for stealing your thunder by posting the link…haha.
I too have my bins organized (though not numbered).
*SEQUENCES
AUDIO
FOOTAGE
GRAPHICS
VFX
_TRASHAnd then extra bins within for individual scenes, Music, VO, certain graphics, etc. I really like having a Trash bin because I can dump things in there and not have to search through the finder if I need it again (though it is trash, you never know).

Do you have a project open? Can you open the Browser and then click on a new Sequence?
