I downloaded all the files that have LogC at the tail of the file name. When I open them up in Quicktime I get the following messages: “The movie could not be opened. The end of the file has been reached.” and “The movie could not be opened. This is not a movie file.” Or I get the message, that I need additional software to open the document.

I’ve uploaded an image of what happens when I click on one of the clips in Safari.

The slate very clearly states that it is a ProRes 422 HQ Log-C file, yet I can’t open it in any of the softwares I previously mentioned.

Here is a screen grab of my browser when I click on the clip “Int_PR4444_LogC.mov”

Again, clearly states on the slate what kind of shot it is. You can also see that part of the movie has loaded as well.

I’m not really sure what is going on, whether it’s the files that I’m getting that are messed up or just the software I’m using. Hope that answers your questions Gary. Thanks for the help.

I wasn’t fully aware the RS lav was a mono input. I should have referenced back to previous projects to see how that audio was dumped in. When I used it with the Sony HD camcorder, it played back in stereo.

Is it best advised to always use XLR as the main connection rather than a “STANDARD PHONE” that is also supports?

Thanks for the advise so far. Does anyone have any other recommendations for lavs or the setup overall?

Hah! Thanks for being so blunt. I’m completely aware of my mistakes and am glad I made them if for no other reason than to learn from them. That being said, I received the files without any valid directory structure so Log and Transfer had nothing to link onto in the first place. Group fail.

I’ll try out your suggestions and see if that will solve this debacle. Again, much thanks.

Unfortunately yes, it’s the original H.264 files. I’ve since learned that that’s a huge NO whenever working with 5D, 7D, etc footage in FCP.

I’m exporting the OMF from a timeline that has just one scene in it. Instead, should I be selecting the sequence in the browser and then exporting from there?

Again thanks for all the help.

Turns out I don’t have reel names. How should I best proceed in numbering me reels? Based on scene (scene 1 is reel 1, s2 is r2, etc) or should everything be marked reel 1?

    Thanks a ton everyone.

The files are being imported into Pro Tools and are being selected properly. He’s getting the audio for each individual scene, but from the beginning to the end of the original clip.
