The XML gets messed up with compound clips. Select everything goto the “Clip” menu up top, then select “Break apart clip items” this pulls the audio out of the compound clip.

Right clicking on the clip and selecting “Detach audio” DOES NOT work, if you try you’ll notice you can still right click and “Open in timeline” this is just detaching the audio and putting it in a new compound clip.

I seem to remember “Break apart clip items” used to be in the right click menu but I guess they changed that.

I had a pretty huge XML problem as well. Apple makes no mention of an issue with Logic, but I’ve read that Resolve and Redcine do not like compound clips (or anything sync’d by fcpx itself)

I selected everything, went up to the Clip menu and selected “Break apart clip items”

After that the XML worked just fine transferring over to Logic.

I’m currently re-editing a movie that made this mistake, it’s a hard thing for FCP 7 users to get past. The old trick swapping files of the same name in the media folder to switch to ProRes/Proxy does not work with FCPX. While it is possible to manually relink everything I highly recommend (especially if you haven’t used FCPX before) that you let FCPX handle the transcoding and organization. Any attempts you make to “out smart” FCPX will end in sadness. I know someone who had their entire feature film go offline because they had an FCP 7 editor try and do this.
