If you are using CS3/4, for some info you can look in the Heip file under Keys, or search the Cow or the net for “chroma keying”, “color keying” + “Premiere Pro”

How are you doing this, are you using a VHS deck and a digital camcorder with A/V to DV passthrough to digitize?

You can use the motion controls to split the screen.
You can search for split screen or Picture in Picture on the cow

The MXL009 is not exactly a cheap mic($400), I personally don’t use one as I use firewire for multi-chnl input, but I do use other MXL condenser mics for instrument pickup, and stereo pairs for recording, haven’t had any problems with them.

Copying is faster than defraging, I don’t bother with either, drives are cheap, I have a bunch of external eSATA drives, both singles and arrays, operate in ext. pairs, one drive or array for source files only, one drive for project files and other clips, keeping the ammount of projects on the drives to a minimum, its easy to clean the drives off for new projects when finished with everything on a drive set

If all you want to do is the above, you should try something like videoredo.com it uses smart rendering and doesn’t need to render the whole clip -
If you delete and add files every few days you will sooner or later start fragging files.

One way to avoid constant defrag is to have large enough drives and more than a pair of drives, alot of people like to archive to hard drives they just fill the drive up then start a new one so the data is available without reloading

If he got it to work on a mac there shouldn’t be a content protection problem, the system he’s trying to run it on is not exactly a screamer and the video card is dated, 720p60 would tend to strain things.
