Thanks all. Came to this same conclusion yesterday. will be outsourcing the master to a house with the appropriate equipment.

to clarify, deck settings should be:

I do have 1394 control.

question about menu item 023-I assumed PB referred to PLAYBACK FORMAT and wouldn’t influence RECORD format. Am I mistaken about that.

Also, what’s with this REC INH I can’t override? I am trying to use DVCPRO (yellow lip) stock. Am I correct that I can only record DVCPRO50 from FCP onto specifically DVCPRO50 tape stock (blue lip), or will DVCPRO50 record to standard DVCPRO (yellow lip) tape stock?

Finally, why didn’t Panasonic hire a copyeditor for their manual? DVDPRO?

very interesting. I am inclined to think you are right-there are some grid squares that seem to contain more than one pixel’s worth of info. if it is built in PS/AE, they went so far as to fake a green and magenta edge distortion. impressive.
