I need to deliver to the following format.
    720 x 576 Anamorphic (1024×576)
    .H264
    Top Field Dominant

    The original is 1080i

Streamclip has all the right settings but no matter whether I click deinterlace or not the resultant file is always progressive.
Compressor wont even give me the interlaced option. All it’s .H264 presets default to progressive. Same with Handbrake.
According to the forums on Apple, .H264 is ALWAYS progressive.
But Adobe Media Encoder on a friends PC has a preset for 576i 16:9 and it works perfectly.
Our fiercely anti-apple tech guy is telling everyone that Apple can not output proper station specs but I don’t believe that.

Yeah it’s only the one bus. Looks like a Thunderbolt dock will be the only way to solve the problem.
Might have to grab one from the States though as the cheapest I can find here is $350.

    Always through the import window.
Transcoded media checked. Sometimes Proxy if I’m doing multicam or 4K.
All the video comes in fine it’s only audio that links back to the original.

No just checked that and it says copy to current Library.
I tried again and imported a test .aiff to the current event and library but again when I went the library package and looked inside that event there was only an alias directing to the original file on the desktop.
I deleted the file from the desktop and sure enough it went missing from the timeline.

The station tech just sent me the supplied list of formats that Thunder will recognise. It says it will recognise .mov so what settings would I use in FCP Export or Compressor to get the best result from a mixture of 1080i 720p and SD PAL footage.
The transmission is PAL SD widescreen.

Here’s the list below. What would be the best to use from FCP5. That’s my main Edit suite, Edius is just used in the field.

Thanks for that. The question is now what format do I use instead of DV. The clips are ingested into AVID Thunder and we can’t find much in the way of reliable info about that program at all.
We cant change what the station uses to play out on and it was them who recommended DV.
Is there a better codec that will work in Thunder on a PC.
    Would .AVI be better ?
