  • ok i’ve tested Sony AVC Blu-Ray 1080p 24 codec, CPU only but Vegas is in GPU acceleration mode.

It’s still not as fast as CPU only mode using the same exact Sony AVC codec. Even slower in “GPU-accelerated” render mode as well (CUDA).

There’s still no way for me except for switching “GPU” on and off in Preferences mode.

  • i did that, it’s still the same slow render speed using those AVC codecs.

The codec i use for fastest render, XDCAM EX, still renders at speeds easily 3x to 5x faster on CPU only, but this codec does not have the “CPU ONLY” option that the AVC codecs does.

Now, why is XDCAM EX so much faster to render than others?

  • Well, great but i am still looking for having both ways.

I only see one option for GPU acceleration for BOTH methods (edit+Render) of which it fails on the Render part. (too slow compared to CPU only render)

This one option is Options > Preferences > Video > GPU Acceleration of Video Processing.

There is only 2 options: Off or GTX Titan.

What exactly do you do that enables GPU for editing, but when its time to render, it ONLY uses CPU? I hate having to switch between the two, it’s inefficient.

  • That is not efficient at all. Whom do I complain to in order to implement this? Does Adobe Premiere or FCX do this “CPU for render, GPU for editing” thing fine or no?

  • That worked! This was driving me nuts the whole time… Now i know. Thanks to you! Why is something like that so obtuse sometimes?

  • nevermind it wasn’t even the microphones at all, the boss, Joe, and John cannot be heard in mono… this is annoying.

In what way can i uninvert it? I tried the invert button on the sidebar to the left of the tracks and that didn’t help.

  • The only thing i can think of is that all other audio was recorded with Rode shotgun microphone and Sony ECM-55 Lav microphone, BUT the boss intro audio was recorded with a ABC News microphone, you know, the one they hold on the news with the logo. That mic was plugged into the Sony a99 and was used as recording audio instead of the others.

Does microphone types have anything to do with inversion?

  • Sigh… how do i make it mono in Vegas?

  • -_- *groan*

I found something else… on phones, the audio works exactly as i intended it to be when you plugged in an headset or external speakers. Otherwise, the audio problem again. All internal phone audio chipsets are like this? I assumed they had to be stereo?

  • So, they made the expanded layers the default this time instead of collapsed in 11?
