[Andy Field] “audio mixing is adjusting levels”
Audio mixing is WAY more than just adjusting levels. Mixing is adjusting levels, skillfully adding compression, limiting, EQ, distortion, reverb, etc, etc, etc. all for the purpose of making multiple tracks of audio sound “good” together.

I see what you’re talking about. It’s pretty bad whatever it is. It looks like a combination of really bad aliasing and compression artifacts. Does it look this bad in your NLE at full quality? What were your compression settings? I don’t have personal experience with the GH2 but based on what I’ve read and seen of it, it’s certainly capable of better than that. I agree that there’s not much point in shooting wide open for a shot like that. I don’t see how that would cause this, but you might as well use the sweet spot of the lens when pretty much your whole composition is in focus like in this shot. Plus you wouldn’t have to use your ND filter.

I’m a bit confused. This is your video, right? I assume you know how much time and effort went into creating it. It doesn’t really make sense to ask someone else how much they think its worth. Like John said, rates vary by region…and by videographer…and the amount and kind of work he put into it.
BTW, there is a sensor dust spot I would definitely take care of.

1800×3200 is not terribly high resolution. That’s less than 6 megapixels. In my last project I used 7 or 8 full res 16 megapixel tiffs in a timeline (with 1080p video) with keyframed transforms and dissolves between them with no hiccups whatsoever. I used full res images because I had no reason to believe FCPX couldn’t handle it, and it did fine. I’m not convinced that’s the root of the problem here.

I don’t see anything out of the ordinary with what you describe. Can you give more details on your stills? File format? Color space? (should be an RGB color space) 8/16/32bit images?
Your project could be corrupted. Have you tried starting over in a new project? Also, are running the latest FCPX version? Is your computer up to spec?

[Bret Williams] “But audio should have tracks, because audio HAS tracks (channels).”
Tracks are not the same as channels. I don’t have a lot of NLE experience outside of FCPX but I have extensive DAW experience (Logic Pro). I’m not saying tracks for audio wouldn’t be useful to some, but anyone with audio experience knows there’s a distinct difference between tracks and channels. I personally don’t mind how audio works in FCPX, except the wave forms drive me nuts. They change appearance drastically as I start and stop playback and scroll though the project. It makes manual ducking harder than it needs to be when you don’t know where the audio actually starts and stops.
[Bret Williams] “Paste attributes – CONTENT. Copy and paste Keyframes too.”
For clarification sake, you want the ability to copy a clip along with certain selected attributes as opposed to a straight copy/paste or alt-click and drag? I suppose that could be useful. I do know keyframes are copied through Past Attributes. Are you wanting the option to not include them?
The other stuff I’m with you on.

May 2, 2013 at 3:06 am in reply to: Is there a way to exclde a small area from a chroma key?Is it a static shot? Does the cord only have the table behind it, or is part of it in front of the green screen also? If it’s static shot with only table behind the cord, I would probably make a copy of the footage above the main clip with no key applied to it, then use a multipoint mask to around the cable to show it unaffected by the key. If there’s movement you might be able to keyframe the mask points.
That said, I can’t suggest anything definitive without seeing the shot, but it may be a lot easier to just reshoot with the black cord.

I just applied a drop shadow with your settings to a talking head shot just like yours. It’s barely perceptible. I have to turn the drop shadow on and off while looking closely at the subject to notice it. You should do the same and see if you can tell if it’s applied. I suspect your parameters aren’t giving you the result you’re expecting. Also, you only published the effect itself, not its parameters. It would help you figure things out if you could play with the sliders in FCPX.
