  • well it seems a friend has worked out what it was, which is using the page down key to see the next part of the timeline… dont know why i didnt try that… :/

however if anyone can see other ways of doing this lengthy process of picking highlights through footage, please let me know

    cheers

    Hey Jon,

Thanks for the tip on HDVSplit, it’s working a treat so far and splitting all new scenes into new files with time stamped file names. I thought Premiere could do this as well, but I couldnt get the “Scene Detect” option lit up in the capture window….

So now I have all the scenes, do I need to sync them in the timeline manually with the timestamp on the file?

yeah that’s exactly it alex! it captures it as 1 continuous timecode starting at 00:00:00:00 instead of the respected timecode on the tape. so there’s no way of matching the audio, esp since we didn’t record audio onto camera….

    any clues?

    hey vince,

thanks for yr response. however at this stage, it’s the fact that premiere captures the HDV tape as 1 entire clip, not detecting new scenes or start/stops, so i need to work out how to overcome this first, so i can import individual clips, then use your recommendation….

    any clues?
