Hello,
I am working on a FCP project, my sequence settings are 720×480 NTSC DV (3:2), NTSC – CCIR 601/DV (720×480). The video I am working with was captured off of 2 old FLIP camcorders as well as a mini Dv camera. I would like to try to attempt FCP Scaling to see if I can upsize to 720pHD. I am creating some Youtube clips which I would like to see if I can convert to HD as right now there are the black bars on the sides, but I am also creating a DVD which is my main focus. I know that I am working with SD video (which was captured as 640×480 which I converted to 720×480) so there is not to many options for me but was hoping I could resize and scale the video so the DVD plays much nicer on the TV and also the video looks better on Youtube.
“FCP scaling (the SD video clip was dropped into a 720pProRes timeline and then I used 200% scaline using the Motion tab in the viewer)” Do I just create a new 720pProRes sequence, and if so what are all of the settings I need to choose in order to create this sequence?
I appreciate any suggestions and all of your help!
Thanks,

Rendering Motion project in my FCP timeline is now working it was not earlier. I am working with NTSC-DV because the video I am working in is captured from mini DV tape and also footage of of two old FLIP camcorders.

My sequence setting in FCP is DV NTSC 48kHz, 720×480, 29.97 fps, NTSC-CCIR 601/DV. My Motion settings are NTSC DV and MiniDV projects, 720×480 resolution.
I was just importing the motion file into FCP and then rendering it in FCP but that was not working out for me. I just exported the Motion file as a movie and imported it into FCP which seems to be playing much better. Does this sound like it is the best way for me to work? I have a lot more still images that I need to animate in motion, so I am just going to export them as movies. I appreciate your help and if you could please let me know if this makes sense that would be great.

I have tried to create a Karaoke effect. Video with audio where I can animate the text so that the animated text corresponds to the lyrics being sung in the song. So since the words just appears when the lyric is being sung I just used regular text without any behaviors. I know you suggested not to use any text behaviors but what else can I do to make the text look livelier?
Thank you for your help and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

August 30, 2010 at 2:21 pm in reply to: Titles in FCP distort when sequence is exported using CompressorHello,
I am working on a FCP 7 project and I have created titles which are lower thirds using Photoshop. Some of the titles that I created in photoshop seem to look a little off maybe pixelated is the word. I was wondering if I am better off using the lower third text generator in FCP? For example I have a project with different locations, and people, so I am creating titles in photoshop that I am placing in the lower left part of the screen. I know Motion created lower thirds but I am not looking for the ones that you see on the news I am using very simple titles. If you or anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello,
I too have a Sony GV-D1000 and it has been working great for a long time but I am now having an issue with it. It seems to work fine until I plug it in to my mac and for some reason FCP does not recognize it as a device when I go to Log and Capture. It even shows DV In on the top right of the screen on the Sony but I can’t log and capture? I dont know if it has something to do with a setting that was changed but It was working and then the other day I plugged it in and realized it was no longer recognized by FCP or imovie. I was wondering if you had any ideas or thoughts on this.
Thank you,

Hello,
I have the video that I want to put text to in motion now. I am trying to create text that will show when the lyrics are heard. It is just a 5 letter word that should quickly appear when the word is song. Do you recommend using and behaviors when creating the text? There are three words that are song right after each other with not much pause in between so I want to have the first word to show briefly and then the next word I want to have it appear next to the first so The text willl not just be in the same place. Any thoughts or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

Hello,
I took your advice and I downloaded Google Earth Pro. I am now trying to create a movie in gogle Earth Pro and import into Motion/FCP 7. I am also taking a screen shot of Google Earth Pro and trying to use that in Motion.
I am looking for any resources online that will help me accomplish what I am trying to do. If you have any suggestions that would be great.
Thank you,
Brad
