  • Hey Hugh,

I bought Media Composer a while back (before the subscription model) and had the Mojo DX, but since I got rid of that video card Media Composer stopped working efficiently on my system.

I made some recent changes to my 5,1 and I was wondering the same thing. My system specs are:

    Dual 3.46 Ghz
Saphire Pulse RX 580 8Gb – Toggle switch set to Compute (not gaming).
Electra 3G 1Tb SSD (boot drive)
    128 Gb RAM 1333 GHz
    OS Mojave

I also have a 24Tb Internal RAID, but I’m navigating to an external RAID using USB C to USB 3.0.

Previously, I had issues with Media Composer 8.3 running on my system using the Nvidia Quadro K5000 (with all the other specs being the same) and I haven’t tried it since.

Mostly, I don’t want to commit to annual fee if I don’t know how it will run on my current setup.

Personally, there’s nothing wrong with the 5,1’s. They are reliable and fast if equipped properly. In fact my machine isn’t that much slower than the 2013 Mac Pro in the Geek Bench Mark Test and Apple hasn’t released a new Mac Pro Desktop since the Cylinder Mac, which is now obsolete since you really can’t upgrade much on it. So there’s no point in upgrading until Mac announces the next Desktop Pro – which will hopefully be next year.

I have a friend that works at CBS and they work from Media Composer, but they are running on the 2013 Macs, so if you take the leap let me know how it runs on the 5,1.

    Cheers,

    B

I just installed Mavericks on my system (running FCP 7) and the audio playback plays out if sync. I have a black magic Intensity Pro that I run through my surround sound system. Before I upgraded, playback was fine using this setup. The clips are converted from a Canon 7D to ProRes LT. The sequence is about 20 mins long. I never upgraded to 10.8 from 10.7. Instead I upgraded directly to 10.9. My computer specs are below. Does anyone know how to fix this or what might be causing this playback problem?

    MacPro Dual 6 core 2.93Ghz
    32 Gb Ram
    Ati Radeon 5870 HD
    Intensity Pro
    Nvidia Quadro K5000

    Cheers,

    Brad

I created the text in AE, but what I am trying to morph the text from is a heiroglyph that I got from the internet which is a picture that I photoshoped. Should I have created the text in photoshop?
