I did a trial shoot this morning on my sunrise time-lapse I estimated the aperture/shutter and shot in raw. About 45 minutes into it, I had to speed up shutter speed one stop and I also stopped shooting 30 minutes after sunrise for fear of the suns damage to my lens Is there any way of protecting my lens while shooting a little more of the suns rising
Also is there a way of batch processing my raw files exposure? I have about 500 raw files.

Thanks Richard, makes sense. I am thinking of an aperture of around a f/10 and then experimenting with shutter speed as I begin.

One other question. In your experience how long does it take before you begin running into overheating problems and how long does it take to cool down after overheating?

I do think the 2nd camera is the solution. My only concern would be unless it was another Canon DSLR that the difference in the footage would be too obvious. Is there any correspondence in appearance between a canon dslr and a canon hd video camera or is the matching going to have to be done mainly in post?
I hear the issue with using the right tool for the right project, but sometimes you just have to work with what you have.

The audio where I have sound track files is fine, it is only the audio that comes from my camera is missing when I play it on my dvd set top player. It plays fine on my computer player. I have used both the dolby ac-3 settings as well as the settings that create a wav. file, same result. In regards to the bit rate, I have used the standard settings (that I have always used)that premiere pro has created for me in the media encoder. What really confuses me is i can take an mp2 and wav file that I created several months ago with premiere pro and create a dvd using encore and the sound is fine.
I did check out one thing, even when I encoded the file with the standard settings (not dolby) the audio settings still said dolby instead of mp2, would that make any difference?
Hope someone can give me some ideas.
Thx,
