I thought there may be an impact on moire generation, either actual or perceived. For example, image stabilization may make moire patterns “livelier” and therefore more obvious.

Agreed. But most of the newer cameras have abandoned that form, so what’s the best alternative? You make a good point about the importance of weight balance in the equation, too. (Although… I am sure that when I swung the camera from side to side, I beaned way too many people, over the years, with the brick on the back of my Betacam.)

How do you do that? I was just going to put the file into its own sequence, name the sequence after the file, and export a ProRes422 QT.

I don’t think they’re exactly the same, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t fine. The part number for my DVDs is DVD-WPPSK 16-HC, and then the description is “-R White hub inkjet 16x hard coat recording surface MID: TYG03.”

I get them from a very small outfit, Genesys DTP. The owner knows his stock very well and can advise you.

They are printable right to the hub. I really like them – I rarely have an issue with burning them (I suspect, when I do, that it is a software issue). And I can’t recall having had one returned for non-readability.

I just duplicated my first try at this, and confirmed that the following is really true:

The new file with the smaller codec can be reconnected successfully, and the new file appears in a sequence that is very simple — just that one file. But in my real sequence, where that file is just one of many, actually one layer of many, I get the red graphic with media-not-found.

Why should it work in one sequence, and not in another?

For quality reasons (both video and print quality) I’ve standardized on Taiyo Yuden waterproof white DVDs. Do you know what CDPrintExpress uses? At any rate, you must be very happy with the results.
