    Hi guys,

So here’s what worked for me on two different computers…

Direct connect cat5 computer to atem.
    Default settings for atem
Network settings for comp set to manual ip set to same as gateway for atem.

Key…. In both cases i had to have the computer connected to a different network for this to work … Not sure why. On a Mac pro, 2nd Ethernet connected to a different network using dhcp. On MacBook pro…. Same thing, just via airport.

Bob: problem is not $80 for a small piece of inexpensive equipment… It’s just one more thing to have to connect and power and transport. I use the atem in a portable situation…. So less is more 🙂

  • I can… the odd thing is that I’ve done the exact same process with other speeches recorded the same day with all the same equipment without any problems.

For some reason, this one sequence is causing these royal pain the butt problems..

  • Minor Update…

Exported the wav to an aif @ 48k….

Now the sequence that I’m trying to export (video from cam 2, aif file as wave) is a little better, but there are still 8 frames missing.

    Original sequence is 1:40:12:00
    Exported MOV is: 1:40:11:22

The thing I don’t get is that this doesn’t happen all the time… its enough to drive a sane person crazy… like seriously over the edge!!

Everything is perfect in the fcp sequence… exported mov file is not the same as the sequence.

  • Ok… found the “aud rate” in the browser of FCP.

For the wave file, it’s 44.1 KHz. The HDV files are 48 KHZ.

  • I’m sure I should know the answer to this, but where do I see that?

I tried a new approach this afternoon to this problem…. I converted the HDV footage to Pro Res 422HQ using compressor…. then I used compressor to convert to DVD 90 Minute Best Quality.

    Exact same results.

I’m totally at a loss as the original footage has nothing like this in it.

    Anybody??

    Frustrated with my macs today!

    Trent,

Thanks for your speedy reply! I’ve tried this… and when I export to compressor, and then select the correct cluster (virtual cluster), my system basically locks up…

From what I’ve read, it has to do with needing to go to compressor from a file instead of the timeline… that of course brings up my slow computer issue, as exporting to a current setting quicktime file from the HDV timeline is taking about 2hrs for a the timeline in questions… exactly 1hr 26 minutes (well… and some seconds :))
