It’s a late reply, but for me, all I have to do is open AE. It doesn’t matter which comp is open in AE.

If I have linked After Effects comps in the timeline, sometimes my renders stall out until I actually switch to AE and back to Premiere, at which point the render re-starts. I know it sounds crazy, but if you have linked After Effects comps in the timeline, try opening After Effects, and then switching back into Premiere to see if that jumpstarts things.

Yep, me too! Just wanted to make sure Louis didn’t misinterpret your post to mean that ML couldn’t do what he was asking about. Believe me, I’m not one of those guys that thinks ML makes a DSLR into a cheaper RED that can do everything ur pro cam can do noob exept betr becuz ur stoopid for paying that much $.
As you say, a hardware intervalometer is better!

I believe the output should be about the same, although I have heard that the Pro has less overall hiss. Right now, I don’t think you’re really gaining anything by using the H4n, except for monitoring capabilities, so if you can do the same with the little USB dongle from the camera, the worst that could happen is that you’re out the 30 bucks or whatever it costs. Best case, you eliminate the H4n entirely and save weight. Worst case, it doesn’t work. I don’t know if the 6D will output audio through USB while recording. Maybe I should find out, since I own one!
I’m a big advocate of not recording audio into DSLRs directly in most cases–unless you can get a really strong signal, and turn the input gain way down, the preamps on DSLRs are pretty bad. I really prefer the dynamic range, cleaner audio, and ease of use of an external recorder on set. But if the result is good enough for what you’re doing, and it saves you weight, then you could try it. At this stage, you’re not using the H4n to record, anyway.

After Effects is the right tool to use for this–Premiere Pro can’t accomplish what you need. There are a host of built-in methods in AE that would be able to accomplish this effect. Do you have access to it?
If so, this is what you do:
Create a Motion Tracker and use it to track the bullet. Use the Line effect on the layer, and apply the motion track to the endpoint of the line, and set the start point to just outside where the bullet enters the frame. The end of the line will follow the tracked path of the bullet, and end up at the target. You can thin the start and end of the line out to make it appear as though the line has perspective.
I work for a hunting company, KUIU, as a videographer. If you have access to AE, PM me with a link to the shot, and I can take a few minutes to help you with a comp in After Effects. I can easily send you an .aep file that you can reconnect to your own media, and tweak to your liking.

Yep–place a copy of the clip in a layer below, and offset it slightly. Then paint your guy out, with plenty of feathering, and place the lower clip in such a way that it fills the hole. You’ll have to rotoscope him–there’s no automatic way to do it.

At a guess? I’d say it’s broken. You probably should send it to Canon for repair.
Sorry, I don’t mean to sound like a smartass. But something like this is not identifiable by sample video. It could be anything from the sensor to the processor to the encoder.

Ryan, he wants to use the software intervalometer in Magic Lantern.
Louis, there are a million options in Magic Lantern, all of which you can enable or disable manually. Installing it on your camera does not mean that you have to shoot RAW video. If you just want to use the intervalometer, you can do that without using any of the other functions Magic Lantern has to offer.

Basically, right now you’re using your H4n as a mic preamp. The mic doesn’t produce signal at a high enough level to register in the DSLR, so the H4n powers it and amplifies it.
The only other way to do this would be to replace the H4n with a mobile mic preamp…but it would weigh the same, so there’s no point.
Although it’s more cumbersome, the way you’re doing it now is the best way to preserve good audio signal flow.
Your other option would be to purchase a different shotgun, something like the Rode Videomic Pro, which is self-powered and has an internal preamp.
