Here is a link to an interesting recent article in BusinessWeek magazine on the DVD war between HD-DVD and Blue-ray.

    Derek,
This past weekend I attended a video expo in the Boston area and sat in on the XL H1 presentation given by Don Berube, one of the moderators of this Canon forum. Don mentioned the H1 was primarily designed for the broadcast industry and the broadcast studio environment. Don also mentioned Canon may introduce other variations of the H1. I would wait until NAB before making a decision.

I’m wondering if Canon reduced the price to clear their inventory of XL2s. I have a suspicion Canon may be announcing a lower priced version of the XL H1 at NAB. The XL H1 is priced out of the range of most event videographers.

  • JD,
If you’re referring to my previous post regarding the new Texas Instruments DaVinci processor, I don’t know if there are any affordable cameras on the market today capable of giving high quality still images from a video frame shot. As a side note, a few years back I read the results of a Kodak survey. Niney-five percent (95%) of all wedding photographs ordered by brides were 8×10 or smaller.

MAM-A is very reputable brand. They have a production plant in Colorado. I have used their CDs and DVDs in the past. Excellent quality.
