Thank for the help Ty.

I just realized the capsule on the shotgun is behind the interference tube, so should I take that into account?

Hi Ty,
I’ve been using a collect of devices to mount the mics on the same boom.
I was planning to build a bar which would allow the tips of the mics to be on the same plane.
Does something like this already exist? The balance of the mix is up to the editor… or they can just use the best sound.
I have the skills and bits and pieces to hid a Sanken or Tram, but when I’m filming CEOs, celebrities or stars on a film set… the interviewees want to get in and out and have very little patients for adjustments.
And at the end of most shoots, I find I prefer the sound of the overhead… so my thinking why not use the second track for an alternative overhead sound. Thanks for your help,

Hi Ty,
Yes, one person…I began using this system years ago, when I filmed approximately 350 musicians, for a series of docs on the history of Canadian music.
At the beginning of the shoot, we were traveling with a soundman who was using both a 416 and lav… After a few weeks, because the budget was tight… the producer asked me to both shoot and record sound.
We had a small window with each musician, there wasn’t time to wiring and hiding the lav… and adjust lights. Besides, the interviewees were often wearing clothing which made noise when they moved.
I experimented using both a cardioid and shotgun on the same boom… when I spoke with the editor after the shoot, he told me he liked the quality of the mix of these two mics.
But when the environment was noisy or live, I replace the shotgun with one of my a Trams, Sankens, Sony 77s or Rodes pin mic.
Best,
Bill -
Last night I found this PP on another site.

Black Gamma – -52I tried Andy’s HD Norm profile with my HMC-150 and the scopes matched perfectly. I was surprised. The 2 cameras work well together. Great job Andy.

I’ve solved the probem with both the EX1 and EX3 with a rig from Redrock.

As a DOP, one day I’m shooting with the Sony F900R and the next… the EX1.
But, after a summer of shooting with the EX1… I’ve learned to love this camera.I solved the zoom problem with a Manfrotto 521EX remote control.
I’m working on a number of hoods for the monitor… some with magnifiers.I was using a DV Multirig Pro… to hold the camera.
But I’m working on another solution and would like some help.– I would like to make a rig with 2 comfortable short handles… so my left hand can rack focus and my right will operate the 521EX remote control.
– A base plate… the camera on top and tripod base plate on the bottom.
– Shoulder pad
– All mounted on 2 rods.I’ve looked at Redrock, Cavision and Zaccuto.
(The rods need to be compatible with other 15mm rods so I can add a Letus system.)Any other suggestions or photos of other rigs?
