  • I built my own editing computer. Since Firewire is now considered legacy and not standard input on motherboards I added a PCIE Combo 2x 1394b + 1x 1394a Firewire Ports PCI-Express Controller Card with a Texas Instruments chipset. It works great under Windows 10. I have all the firewire connections and data rates. I have a Canon HV10 HDV camera and it works great with the card. I also input firewire from my old Pinnacle Madras also. The Madras also have SDI. I can input all kinds of analog and digital sources just fine with Windows 10 and Vegas Pro 16. I also do what you are doing with my Laptop and older computer that has a Firewire port. But nothing wrong with doing the job on my fast machine!
