My specs: Core i7 1.60 GHz
    Internal hard drive: Yes

“You can copy/paste between separate projects, but you need to have both projects open at the same time.” a-HA! Okay, thanks for clearing that up.

I highlighted the project, and un-checked “Render loop region only.” Then I rendered. It’s still the same, unfortunately. It does skip from still to sill, but the music starts and stops.

Oy! Oh well. Matt, this video is time-sensitive, and I can’t believe it, but I’m just going to play it in preview and record that with my camcorder. It’s for You Tube, and my YT friends will cut me some slack. That will just be a straight shot – no edits, so I should be able to render that easily enough. It’s unbelievable that I’m going to resort to this tactic, but I know I can make it work. I’ll just tone down the editing in future videos.

Rats! I love jump cuts and a lot of them. It just isn’t going to fly in HD.

Hey, you’re a nice person for jumping in to advise, so thanks. I appreciate such rapid notice. Anyway, I’m getting Vegas HD 10.0. I’m just using the trial version but I like working in the Vegas environment, so I’m going to spring for it.

Thanks for your reply, Matt. I feel like I’m in the wilderness.

Yes, playing/previewing (AVCHD) is choppy in places, but it does play. The rendered product stops after the first few clips, and will play approximately three or four stills of ten or fifteen video cuts. The music stops and starts too. I know I’m throwing a lot at Vegas. This is a very fast-paced video with many cuts, some paced together quite closely.

I tried one thing related to your reply. I thought it would be possible to copy the footage in short segments into new files (without the music track), render each segment, and continue that process to the end of the video. Then, I would place all of those rendered clips in the timeline of one file, include the music track, and render that. I couldn’t seem to copy the segments, though. I would highlight a few, then go to a new file and try to paste them into the timeline. The option for paste never came up, though. There was nothing to paste. I don’t know if there’s another way.

The project settings do match the medial format, but I haven’t yet tried to preview in a lower quality setting. I’ll also disable external monitor preview.

I’m disappointed because this video is time-sensitive, but I think that I’ll just have to change my editing style for future videos. I still like Vegas. I realize this has nothing to do with Vegas.

Thank you again for replying, Matt.
