I am using a Z1 connected directly to the firewire port on my mac.

I do know about the pains of conforming HDV, but at the moment I am living abroad and only have one drive with me.

The footage is a series of vox pops/short IVs so I am capturing each person as a separate clip up to 10mins duration, I have had problems in the past with timecode drift for longer clips .

I have found a workaround solution for the moment:
– capture as HDV
– open the bin in a diffrent DV project, transcode to 15:1s
Results in a offine 15:1s footage from HDV, but its a bit cumbersome.

I did a short test of re-capturing a whole timeline as HDV with footage capturied in this way, and it seemed to work, and was frame accurate for a 15second clip.

Will I have problems further down the line? The edit is going to be relatibely simple, no effects of layering, so drift of a few frames should be acceptable if that happens in re-capturing.
