  • Hey guys, I found this reference to using the DVI port, or Minidisplay port with an adapter,
    on the MXO page:
    https://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/mac/mxo/video_output/#close

So I presume they mean… mindisplay to dvi adapter?
I wonder if it works with the MXO2 adapter.
Thoughts or comments on the above?

  • Thanks for your replies, guys. The guy at the store I just called also seemed to think I would need Express card to run the Matrox.
I understand one option is to hire a MBP 17″ with the express card.
What about simply connecting a pro monitor to my laptop using a generic miniDisplay to HDMI adapter… the kind you can buy for $50 from the apple store, etc. Is that do-able?

Thanks Ty. So what do you think is the best application for the NTG-3, generally speaking… eg 2 feet from talent in quiet outdoor settings (minimal hard surfaces)…. ? Cheers, Ben

Thanks Eric and Ty, plenty of great info there. Makes me wonder what IS so great about the Rode NTG-3. At the moment I feel a bit like it’s not perfect for any situation, which bums me a bit as it was sold to me as a mic that I could shoot a feature on.
I’ll further research your suggestions guys.
    Nice video, Ty.
    🙂

Thanks for the mic tips guys, appreciate it. I’ve also heard good outdoor results can be achieved Sennheiser Wireless G3 system and a high end lav mic. Do you guys agree, and / or have a recommendation on which mic to use?
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • Hi Bob,
So you’re saying in your experience those settings have caused less errors / freezes than other settings?
    Good to know….

  • Wow, so the Transcend 133x are used a lot for HD video…. the SanDisk ultra II should be faster than those in theory, but they don’t seem to work properly for vid. And you never get any freezes or buffer lock ups with the Transcends?

Thanks for all the tips, guys. I tried QT change. I ended up checking delete on every track except video, and managed to successfully remove the audio (as a test more than anything) but the TC is still there!
I definitely checked these boxes for deleting too:
    Normal TC
    Aux TC 1
    Aux TC 2
    Text

But the TC is still there.
I think i might just leave it for this clip, unless I’m missing something.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean Quicktime Pro? Because for the life of me I couldn’t find Properties, and how to delete the track, from Quicktime Player 10.0.
I found the Inspector… but nothing about tracks or timecode….
