I just meant what type of hard drive setup you’re using, and how much space you have (so you answered it with the XServe RAID) We have an XServe RAID here too, and have run into problems with it as well, but it’s pretty solid right now. Granted you said this was working yesterday, so the only thing that I can think of is that the backup broke the balance in some way. What do you have your RAID set up as. And also, is at least 35-40 % of your RAID free? Finally, does the capture just end, or does FCP give you an error?

    Hey Jason,

I’ve run into many problems, but never one like that. The only thing I can think of is that maybe your backup ate up enough HDD space so that your HDD is now not running optimally for SD capture, either because it is too full or has become too partitioned. What disk setup are you running and how much data did you backup last night (and, I guess, did you back it up to your media drive?).

there are little divider lines between the audio track names (i.e. between the indicator A1 and A2 on the left of your timeline). put your mouse over the divider line that is beneath the track you want to enlarge and drag it down to enlarge the display.

    Hey Thom,

I’m not sure if this will work, and I’m actually using FCP 4.5 HD right now so I can’t test it, but could you nest each camera clip (or series of clips) in its own sequence and then make a multiclip out of the sequences instead of the master clips themselves. I don’t know what issues you’ll run into later if this works now, but you might be able to tackle the problem that way. Just brainstorming – hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Jerry, but perhaps I was a bit unclear. The footage in the two timelines isn’t offline. In fact, you can still edit with it. But (considering the example above) all the footage from Editor A’s timeline has no link to the browser, as in it is exactly the same as if the footage was dropped directly into the timeline rather than importing it into the project’s browser first.
