Hi Nick,

You could try Handbrake or Adobe Media encoder. They max out the Xeon’s in de Mac Pro.
In my experience encoding is much faster then with Compressor. But then you have to export ProRes first from FCP X
Even with this extra step, it can be faster. Also quality with Handbrake using the X264 encoder is very good.

Hi Marco,

As far as I know the decklink mini monitor does not support 2K.
FCPX stretches your 2K scope to HD. You have to squeeze your footage vertically to get the right output.
Resolve handles this smarter.

Hi all,

I might be wrong but as far I know video output from build in HDMI on a mac pro or graphics card is limited to 8 bit only. OS limitation.
Mini Monitor is 10 bit.

My experience:

When importing MTS directly X uses de transportstreams with (in my case)
ac3 audio. With a lot of clips a lot of beachballing.
With volume structure X rewraps to mov and transcodes the audio to pcm.
A very different approach, I think Clipwrap does the same.

When you export a movie with a 10 bit codec to image seq. using Quicktime player,the result is 8 bit tiffs? Or am I mistaken?
