    Brandi,

It is difficult to say how your camera will handle the 64T stock without knowing which model of camera it is. Based on your discription I presume that it is a simple auto exposure camera, but that doesn’t mean that this stock will work with it. Check out this link. It has some good info and a list of usable cameras.

Regarding the lighting you have – it may be enough depending on how you intend to use it and how far away the lights are from your subject, among many other things. Perhaps you could share more about your project (subject, set/location, colors, movement…etc).

    Thanks Samuel!

I’ve already put the order in for our company, so I’m glad to hear your comfirmation that this is a good product for the cost and portability. This is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Your discription is how I imagined this light dolly might handle.

Terry, your suggestion of adding weight is appreciated also.

I do plan on ordering a heavier model for our stage when the budget allows, but for now I like the idea of a dolly that will do ok for location work even if I send out a small three person team.

    Thanks again,

The Router Speed Control from Harbor Freight does a nice job as a 1K dimmer for $13. It seems to work just as well as the $120 one I bought. Same amount of electrical buzz at the lower end, but that is to be expected.

    Todd and John,

Thanks for the advice. I spoke with Pam at Matthews today. She was only able to quote from the catalog and didn’t have any personal experience using the materials herself. However, she is sending a swatchbook of materials to me which will be most helpful. I’ll give an update on what I discover.

    Bob,

    Thanks for the reply.

I should have been more clear about what I need.

What I’m trying to control is more subtle. The hard shadows I want to eliminate are the faint ones that result from the hard source light that passes through a material without being diffused. It’s a small percentage, but some hard light still gets through a standard artificial silk. This isn’t a question of flat lighting or wrap, but specifically about transmission. Which material(s) will only transmit the scattered rays and not “leak” any of the direct hard light from the source?

I’m hoping to learn about the differences between China Silk, and Lightbox Diffusion as compared to artificial silk.

    Best,

    -Ben
