Hi John, I will email Adobe when I get a chance, have just found a workaround for the time being. I am still stummped at what is happening. This is my work around.

    1. I rendered from FCP with my current settings in my case HDV1080i50 (adjust to whatever setting you are using)

    – Did not have audio on time line when opened in AE

    2. Open clip in QT and then rendered using HDV1080i50(the same as i did out of FCP.) (adjust to whatever setting you are using)

    – Audio works fine in AE

No idea what is causing this, hope this workaround helps some people before the real solution is found.

Ive posted it on the other thread as well. Very interesting.

Thanks for your input. I might host the clips somewere and see if someone can figure it out but it must be something about how FCP is encoding the audio…. I really dont know!

    Thanks for your input John.

I have rendered using current settings which is HDV1080i50. Some clips work fine, and the others are loosing the audio on the timeline. What codec do you suggest I use to check if the codec or something else is wrong? I tried Apple Pro Res and it still did the same:

    Plays in QT.
PLays in the Project window and displays waveform in the thumbnail.
On timeline displays a flat line ie: no waves. at 0.00dB

    What codec should deffinately work?

    Thankyou

Yeah its at 0.00dB. Yeah its very odd. It has wave form in AE it the project window then just dissapears. I posted this in AE forum but CCow moved it here.. Thanks for your efforts! 🙂

    Hi John,

The audio is fine on other clips. When I click on the this clip in the project window I can see the waveform on the thumbnail of the clip, and it previews with audio. But once its in a comp and I click down to the waveform it just displays two flat lines. Have been using hdv footage for a while and have never come across this.

    Any other ideas?

    Ben
