I can’t figure out why your Launch Shake box is grayed out. I can send video clips, text clips, anything created with a generator in FCP, LiveType project files, Whole Sequences from the Browser, etc.

Are you trying to export a clip from the Timeline, if so, what type of clip is it, how was it generated in the first place?

Since you’re using P2, and the FCP P2 Import window (not sure why you’re bothering with XML, unless you’re wasting time with P2 Log), Capture Presets are of no importance, and make no impact on your project.

If you shot in 1080i60, you should use the Easy Setup to make your project 108i60. Then there will be no rendering. If you have to render a clip the moment you drop it into the Timeline window, your Sequence settings don’t match your Clip settings.

Righ click on a clip in the Browser and from the pop-up menu go to Item Properties and double check the format of your clips. In DVCPRO-HD there are a ton of variables that could not match and cause a need for rendering.

Again, I’d blow off P2 Log and just import the stuff with FCP’s P2 Import window. I’ve been using the HVX and FCP for a year now, hardley a problem.

    >Sounds good BUT you can only do this if you use your firewire connection and capture thru firewire.< No, not the capture setting, I'm talking about the function in the Mark menu. You are thinking about the function in the Capture presets that has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, but is often mistaken for doing the same thing, though it doesn't. What I'm talking about looks not at SMPTE TC, but Time-Of-Day TC, to make breaks. Read this article to the end before we go further: https://www.eventdv.net/Articles/ReadArticle.aspx?ArticleID=11431

Coffee? Lord, if I have to review anything I wish would go by faster, I’m doing a shot of Jim Beam!

Very easy. Go to Sequence > Settings > Audio Outputs tab, set it to the number of channels you want to send out, set as stereo pairs of monos, etc.

Heck, push “L” several times and watch it even faster!
    K will stop.
J will slow it down each setp if already running fast forward.
J will, if stopped, do the same progressive speed playback in reverse.

I thought all Powerbooks had a PCMCIA card slot on the side of it.

I use it on DVCPRO-HD footage all the time. I’ve used it with HDV footage. That’s all digital video, with the same metadata that the fuction uses. It does in fact work with any digital video format I’ve used it for so far.
