I have tried capturing a Closed Captioned DVD on VHS by playing it through a Close Caption enabled TV and all I get is a plain video tape; no closed captions. The encoded closed captioning material didn’t copy to the VHS. I have tried the same method to convert closed caption to open caption and the text doesn’t copy onto the VHS. Could be my VHS is not closed caption compatable. Could be I need a special encoder. There seem to be a lot of variables when dealing with closed captioning. I see why most people out-source. I will try capturing my CC DVD with my digital tape recorder. And if that works she will then at least have a master which she can tape else where to have reproduced.
