You are mistakenly assuming I know more that what I do. I have been doing SV for several years now but consider myself a complete newby. I make a DVD twice a year and pretty much have to learn it all over again each time. Now that you understand my lack of knowledge here is what I see. Mp3 option is greyed out. images.creativecow.net

Yes, there is a box that says ” Copy Media with your project” ( big sigh and rolling eyes) I must confess I never noticed. When I feel this stupid I wonder how I even managed to make the couple dozen Dvd’s that I have.
Honestly the filing in this program is a nightmare for me and I need a good tutorial on how to set it up properly. I have an import folder -> from camera to hard drive
and then Working videos,
prepared videos,
Rendered videos
finished videos.
There must be a better way.
But I thank you kindly for setting me straight. ‘Copy Media with your project’ worked.

Now is there a way for me to add each song to the project without having to open another Sony Vegas, loading the next song and dragging it into the original SV with the original project?

I imported the media (Import media, E drive, all files) to get it onto the timeline, then deleted the songs I did not want to keep and saved “it” in a folder on my D drive. Which obviously failed because by your explanation, I now understand its merely a project file and not the actual song with video. How do I save it as its own entity? This project will require me to extract one or 2 music and video files from about 15 separate DVDs then compile them into one CD. I have made a CD from a DVD before but not one that is a compilation of many DVD’s. I really can’t be copying 15 entire DVD’s to my hard drive. Actually, all of the DVD’s are already on my hard drive because I made them but I can’t access them because when I upgraded my computer the drive got a different letter and if I try to load them I get the same message that I described in my first question. Even though they are sitting right there sony can’t find them.

Thanks I had already read the first link but it did not answer my question.. Do I need to update my PMB to Play memories? I don’t need blue ray (stuff), I just need to be able to import my movies onto my computer.
PMB does not seem to be on my computer anymore so I can’t update it to the 5.8 something. When I go to the sony site to download pmb, it asks me for my operating system but doesn’t allow me to enter windows 8. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. And being relatively daft about such things I need someone to tell me to do A and then B in order to get C.. I really don’t know what to do here… in fact its amazing I can create DVD’s at all. Please?

Thanks for the reply Steve. I didn’t need to re-install it. I shut down for a few hours, came back and it worked just fine. I did a shut down before when it was misbehavein and it was still glitchy… so why it suddenly is fine is anyone’s guess.

Thank you. That was easy. However, the movie is now 6.1 GB instead of the 7.5 that it was, and is still too large. Is there any way of compressing it to fit? I tried to ‘optimize’ it but no go.
Just what is the time limit on a regular DVD? I thought 2 hours would fit but apparantly not. How can I check the size on Vegas while i am editing it? Thanks kindly.
