Thanks, I had guessed this was a bug– just one I had not heard of. Thanks about the recompression trick.

I have tried the easy set ups of course. Multiple cameras/decks. Ever since I upgraded to Tiger I had issues with my firewire ports. This has been solved with new Quicktime reciepts, but now this issue with HDV has reared its head. When the easy set up is engaged, the output video device under the Audio/Video Device menu is grayed out when HDV is the desired option, as if FCP is just not accepting this option– my Blackmagic and others appear. Maybe once again this is a Qucktime reciept issue– maybe a reciept in particular for HDV? But I thought everything would be fine with the pro version of QT, which of course comes with FCP studio.

THANKS! It seems to be been a QT 7 receipt issue. Re-installing QuickTime from that link did the trick. It also blew out my decklink prefs and set ups, but I will attend to that now and all should be fine….:) Thanks again for that link, as well as your excellent feedback.

Thanks for the list. I re-installed by the way no help. All is working on another box running 4.5 with 3.9 OS. So the FW cable and deck is fine. I will go through your list now. (It might be some odd issues with Final Touch, which has issues with Tiger, but there are work arounds.) I will go through your list now.
