April 27, 2011 at 7:39 pm in reply to: Linking source text in text layers to an external .txt fileI know this reply is coming in a bit over a year late, but is there a workaround for handling relative paths for expressions within the AEP file? Is there anything at all? It seems like a weak spot of expressions’ capabilities. Is there any way to at least get ahold of the absolute path to the AEP file itself?

February 16, 2010 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Possible to precompose maintaining layer size? Thanks for the link. Just submitted the feature request. I do think it would be a useful option for a user, even if layers that don’t have any spatial data are included in the precomp.

February 16, 2010 at 4:12 pm in reply to: Possible to precompose maintaining layer size? Thanks for the reply, and for the advice. I want to quickly make a dimension fitting pre-comp while I’m in the timeline, it’s more of a work flow issue. I wish Adobe would just put an option in the pre-comp dialog that pops up when you create a pre-comp from layers in the timeline. Something like: “make dimensions of comp match extents of layers” or something to that effect.

I’ve experienced this issue, and in my Googling, I read somewhere to update my mouse driver. I did, and the problem was fixed. I think it had to do with the middle scroll wheel on my mouse. Who knows, but ever since I had upgraded my mouse drivers, all was good.
. . .worth a shot 🙂

March 31, 2009 at 3:16 am in reply to: Import composition from one project to another? In the new project, import the older project that has the comp you want. After importing, you’ll see a folder in your project window that you can drill into to get to the comp you want. In short, AfterEffects can import AEP files.

From what I understand the Mac version of CS4 software apps won’t let you access more than 3GB of RAM, but I may be mistaken. Double check on Adobe’s website, or call their technical support to verify. . .

What type of font are you using? Is it one where the letter forms are outlines? I think you may be talking about the difference b/w an open and closed path. But, either way, if you want to make your font an open path (a single line), use the Scissors tool in Illustrator and click anywhere on the closed path that makes up the letter, then click again somehwere near that point, then delete the path that is created as a result of the cuts. Try copying and pasting that result. . .

Having a difficult time envisioning what you mean. Can you post a screenshot? My intuition tells me this is more an issue with your parameter settings on the stroke effect. You may need to play around with those.

Strange 🙁
In premiere, you could try dragging all the subclips at once to a new sequence, then save the premiere file. The import just that sequence into AE. . .
Worth a shot?
