  • Weird Jitters for AE window..help!

I restored my computer an reinstalled After Effects CS4 like normal with flash…and now both are having random window jittering…especially flash. Flash is crazy with it…wwhen im in the middle of drawing the window will randomly jitter for like 1/2 of a second and mess me up…here are some pictures of the outcomes it does (below)..as you can see the window moved down here in after effects and left it like this..messing many things up..leaving a frame of the jitter that just happened. Nothing like this happened for me before even on the same computer. I remeber someonehad a problem like this with premiere..but never got an answer. Please tell me what should i DO???? Its really annoying…and messes up my work!

I vaguely remember reading that this can be a problem with either Wacom tablet or Nvidia video card drivers. Is it possible that when you did the restore you didn’t get the most current set of the above drivers? Sorry to be vague, but I’ll be if you do a search on AE and Wacom or Nvidia, you’ll find more specifics. Good luck!

this is obviously a video card issue. I know that is not a LOT of help to you, but you should check your drivers, or FRANKLY in my opinion. Invest in a high end card. Its SO worth the reasonable amount of money it costs. I am stuck with a very good, but slightly dated main CPU for my main workstation. The video card upgrade was worth its weight in gold. Video card technology is advancing faster than CPU processor technology, (right now anyway)

    my 2 cents….

    Scott,
Since the consensus seems to be that video cards don’t make much difference for AE, if there’s anything beyond the obvious, could you elaborate on the reasons that you prefer high-end video cards? For example, were you speaking in terms of the benefits to a video workstation as a whole, rather than just AE (i.e. NLE, 3D programs, etc.)? Or, were you referring to possible future benefits of running AE with a high-end card? Something else?

Thanks for all of your valued input on the COW.

well i recently changed my gfx card to an ati card…..could this be the issue?? i had some nvidia startup ptorgrams still on my computer even though i uninstalled all the drivers and software..so i disabled them. could the ati card be the issue here??? because thats the only thing that changed…..

I’ve experienced this issue, and in my Googling, I read somewhere to update my mouse driver. I did, and the problem was fixed. I think it had to do with the middle scroll wheel on my mouse. Who knows, but ever since I had upgraded my mouse drivers, all was good.

    . . .worth a shot 🙂

very unexpected….it worked! i updated my mouse drivers like you said.. then loaded up after effects…and there is no more jitter! i tested out flash too and no more jitter! thanks alot…but i find it akward it was a mouse problem….out of all the possible things i thought it was…fonts, gfx card, monitor, and it turns out its the mouse. thanks! finally after months of annoyances…fixed! thank you!
