I’m interested in hearing more from your experience if possible as I personally never dealt with this situation before (with an editing drive)

So, have you edited with an external drive formatted (in PC) as exFAT? if so, how limiting was it?

Also, have you edited when using Paragon HFS+ in Windows or NTFS for Mac? Again, how limiting was it?

I’ve found this on another forum:
On the lower flavours Prores (and ProResLT, and ProRes Proxy) are 10bit but introduce more artifacting. ProRes Proxy is especially bad. DNxHD, on the other hand, goes down to 8bit on its lower flavours with better results at lower data rates…

DnxHD is free to decode (play back) and encode (create) on all platforms. ProRes decode is free for all platforms but encoding is limited to OSX. There are obviously hacks to get around this though.

thanks a lot for the quick reply.
Yes, the format is 1440×1080 and looking at the clip attributes at my seq they still have this one.
There’s no distortion at all, as I was just starting the project and I haven’t even done anything!
And my seq settings are:
-frame size: 1440×1080
-aspect rario: hd 1440×1080 16:9
-pixel aspect ratio: hd 1440×1080
-the anamorphic 16:9 box checked
-upper field
-editing timebase: 25
-quicktime video settings: compressor: dvcpro hd 1080i50

when I change this last thing, the compression to none is when it looks fine but then the media need to be rendered as it’s not their original format.

any other idea?
