Great answer John. I was looking for a similar answer for days. I’m very new to AE and am going crazy. This program feels so counter-intuitive coming from photoshop. Anyway, I did exactly what you suggested and it worked finally! However, here’s my followup question:

All the position-transformations I’m making to a graphic that’s floating around is in the precomp. Is there any way I can see the main comp while I’m doing this position-transformation? Right now it feels like I’m shooting in the dark.
