I am having this same issue and it has been a bear! It seems random and arbitrary. I found a guy who had the same issue a couple years ago and I have an e-mail out to him to see what he found. Here is a link to his post:

I will try the Qmaster cluster recommendation and report back.

Thanks for the info on the raid card Walter that clear things up. I should have provided more info on one of the processors. The 2.93 I was considering is the Quad version not the 8-core version.
