Hi Zane, our server is used mainly as storage. We have our capture scratch (FCP) and all referenced files (Aperture) on it. Along with our shared files for everything else. It’s 3TB with the option of more storage. And it’s also got a good archive system so that we can store data off-site.
It’s a windows machine (HP) because we were advised it would be better for connecting to the internet. In the future we want to create a stock library for our clients.
We’ve always had problems with the server, initially we thought it was a compatibility issue between windows/mac. We were using samba share but now moved to AFP. But still we have issues.
We’re at the stage of losing this server and starting again. We’re just not sure what to replace it with. Or whether we’ll have problems with the new server anyway?
