I am so very glad you just said that about lubing the gears –
several times last night I kept telling myself – “let’s go fire up that camera and see what happens.”
and each time I started to prep it for a test fire – i got distracted. THANK GOD!

    Greetings Mr Terry –
I am doing a little research on Bolex’s – this year we are competing in the Louisiana Film Prize; last year they partnered with Kodak to include short films shot on film.
One of the Directors I’m shooting for just bought the Bolex H-16 REFLEX 16mm to shoot with. After mentioning this to my boss, he said “I’ve got a Bolex Pro with the Schneider-Kreuznach zoom lens you could use. It was professionally serviced prior to its last use and has been sitting for over a decade… untouched.”
After reading your comments here – I am completely excited to test out this beast! and it is a beast.
I just bought batteries and will be buying film stock this week. Thanks for your posting

That’s what I’m afraid of… P2 Card problems. I hope it’s not going out on me.

Soooo… recording in different formats on the same P2 card will give the red circle with an “x” on my LCD DURING RECORDING? And if so, why did it come on during only half the clips..?

Even within the same recorded format- some HD clips playback, others don’t. And what about the red circle with the “X” that popped up on my LCD screen during recording?

aaannd- when I go to view the recorded clips in the camera, the clip number is red and will not playback. It will not let me “repair” the clips.
But they playback just fine from my portable P2 storage/card reader.

I have the HVX200 with the Letus 35 Extreme/Nikon lense mount. I have 3 primes and a telephoto.. It too works well and adds a soft grain look.
You can also mix stock lense footage with adapted lense footage. I would make sure to check your adapter package THOROUGHLY as soon as you open the box. I got mine from B&H as a total production package… but i could hear the ground glass jiggling inside- they use some sort of cheap glue/adhesive.. needless to say it took about a month of “customer service” and “let me get you over to the manufacturer/distributor for further assistance”. I missed several test shooting days that resulted in not being able to use the lenses on a short film.

  • Hi Ashley-
sorry to hear about the chaos, but if you have no problems in FC- it looks like you’ll need to convert to avi or wmv. I am pretty sure you’ll lose timecodes as I remember a friend telling me about his problems with FS100 and FC. I use CS5 with my HVX200 – SOoooo I am not sure what formats FC will let you convert to, but try a couple of short 10-20 seconds clips in a variety of formats. I’m sure this has crossed your trouble shooting mind

  • You should be able to hook ur HVX200 straight to ur laptop using firewire.. u might have to download a driver.
