    Avid with Tbox works very well. Tbox works very much like avid unity.
    For each project you setup a “workspace” which really is just a folder on a hard drive. You then mount that workspace as drive letter in windows.
    Within Avid then just choose that letter as your default volume, and all media files are written to it.
    I also have a workspace set up for avid projects too.
    In multiple edit suite environments it supports bin locking, so you and other editors can work using the same workspace and material, but each others bins stay locked until you close your bin.
