When its the last frame, cut it.
Stretch this 1 frame clip with stretch tool to desired length.
Right click on this stretched frame and check Hold Frame.
Set it to inpoint.
Done

You can rename anything you want, just warning you what can happen.
A few clips renamed, that’s OK, if several hundreds of clips are renamed……

You do not want to rename the clips ones they are in Premiere.
If ever your footage goes off line you will have a hell of a time relinking.
You will have to do that by hand for each clip and you have to know which original clip to link to.
Nearly impossible.

White means no pixels. No pixels means no color correction.
If you want to change just the background you need to use a mask.
Unfortunately that is more of a job for After Effects.
You can animate a mask in Pro but you need to use garbage matte on a white color matte (track 3), set clip in track 2 with Track Matte effect to track 3. Add a blur to the color matte for feather. Do the CC on the clip in track 1.
Don’t know any tutorial for that except in Dutch, you need to Google.

Go to the Metadata Display/Premiere Pro Project Metadata in the dropdown menu of the Project Windows (righthand top corner) and check the properties you want ie Shot.
When you open the project window in List view the Shot list should be there.
You can drag the properties around in the Project Window to suite your need.

I am on a pc dont know if that will make a difference, but my Bridge can see m2ts/mts files, cannot play them, but i can batch rename.
Copy files to hard drive, rename and import either through the MB or in the Project Window.
Does not Mac OS have a batch rename option?

You will find the option batch rename in the Bridge under Tools or you can batch rename in Window Explorer.
First rename then import.
