I am a qualified broadcast journalist and experienced self-shooting director with a BSc in Environmental studies. I have more than 20 years of media experience and while I lived in Asia and Africa I worked with some of the world's largest media companies. I have also directed and produced films for leading development organisations. I also design and deliver video journalism/production training to media staff around the world for BBC Media Action.

I was Highly Commended by the AIB awards for directing short films on women’s empowerment issues in Ethiopia for BBC Media Action. I have also directed a number of films for production companies including TVE and have produced videos for the Guardian online, the UN, World Bank and NGOs such as Oxfam and the Red Cross.

Before moving to Eritrea to work for the UN, I worked as a television journalist for Euronews in France and the BBC in the UK. In 2010 I studied a documentary film-making course at the National Film and Television School in the UK.
