    Hi all,

I’m using a Panasonic HMC40 and trying to download its files into my Mac OS X 10.5.6.
Problem is I’ve never used ‘mts’ codecs before and iMovie and Quicktime don’t recognize it at all. I’d like to stay out of the Apple Final Cut Pro/Express systems, because rendering each file before exporting it uses up too much of my hard disk space- does anyone know about anything quicker?
Basically, is there a way to convert ‘mts’ formats into something more manageable- .mov/ mp4- while staying in true HD?
I don’t care much about audio loss. But I would like to find a quick and simple way to visualize and edit my project. Is the VLC Media Player any good?
Any help would be really appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Anise
