I haven’t heard back for my last post. Nothing has changed. Do you have any suggestions as to what my “Easy Set-up” should be set at with this type of camera?

I actually changed the setting to DV PAL 48 khz….just for the heck of it. It still doesn’t see the camera, however when I chose Log/Capture it didn’t tell me that the deck couldn’t be initalized. It allowed me to click on capture now…but the screen was black. This is the furthest that I have been yet, but still no luck!

    I am desperate!

    Anymore suggestions?

One other thing….I recently retired my apple keyboard..and purchased a cheap wireless Logitech set. Could this be interfering with my connections? The “modem” or whatever it’s called that reads the keyboard and mouse signal are connected via USB…

Thanks for anything you can help with!

Yes, I have tried both FireWire ports a number of times.

When the camera is in VCR mode I can watch them flawlessly in the viewfinder. They seem to play just fine.

FYI: I went into the menu of the camera and looked around. I noticed one option titled “A/V Option” Within this menu there was an option to turn the “DV Out” on or off…it was set to off and so I turned it to on. I’m not sure if that is correct, but it seemed logical to me.

    Thanks for you help ???????

I do not have anything else connected via firewire. I have an external hard drive connected via USB. Which is set as my capture scratch. I also have tried capturing directly to my internal drive. Still no luck.

I have 2 of the exact same firewire cables…both have worked fine when capturing from a Canon XL2, and neither have worked with the Panasonic.

The cable is very basic and purchased from RadioShack. It appears to be 3 pong on both ends. It’s very basic. I can’t imagine that it would work for a Canon XL2 and not the Panasonic

The only thing new from the capturing process since the XL2 is that I updated my OS to Leopard..and I updated to FCP Studio 2..I have not captured using this software yet.

There is only one DV output on the camera, and the wire that I have fits perfectly.

I am lost…do you have a suggestion as to what to set my “EASY-SETUP” options at for this camera, Panasonic AG-DVC-80 3CCD???? Maybe I didn’t try the correct combination yet?

Tried this…and re-set the “Capture Scratch” to my Mac HD….just for testing purposes….still do not see the Camera. Also, The External Drive is connected vis USB.

Great Question..I have tried a number of combinations. This camera is brand-new to me.

What should my settings be??? All of them..

I used to capture using a Canon XL2. I have since upgraded to Leopard and to FInal Cut Studio 2..have not captured since.

I did however, upgrade to Quicktime 7, as I read this was important in a blog.
