There’s not really too much extra effort. In compressor4 under the Qmaster menu select share computer as quick cluster with services. Check the compressor box and change the instances to the maximum allowed.
If the computers are connected over ethernet this should work well. Not so well over WiFi.
Export an original Quicklime movie from FCP and then compress that file with you desired settings. When you submit the job make sure you tick ‘this computer plus’

October 12, 2011 at 5:56 am in reply to: The Position Tool Does Not Disable Ripple Mode – Here’s Why[David Lawrence] “This is a very typical J/L-cut scenario with multiple audio sources. The connected clips are connected to the gap because that creates the correct sync relationship between them. All I want to do is move this connected group by a few frames or so to fix the pacing.”
I can think of a few simple other ways of achieve what you are trying to do.
1. Change the point at where the clips are connected by holding down command+option and clicking to a position not on the gap
2. Make the clips a compound clip and then change the connection position by command+option clicking.
3. More of your connected clips could be put into a secondary story line and the positioned within that storyline.
Hopefully this helps

[Jamie Franklin] “Then take another audio file and lay it in underneath…lets call that music. To test your analysis place it further down the track please without anything above it…..
(uhoh! what is it doing?)
Then try and mute that “track” you say exists…With your video, do the same thing, try and build a 3 track multi layer without anything underneath one of the videos…
(uhoh again! what is it doing?)”Hi Jamie,
There are no tracks in FCPX, but you can move clips anywhere in the time line by using gap clips. You can creating them using the position toll or ‘command W’. If you want to mute a selection of audio clips, select them and press ‘v’ to disable them. You can save this selection by making them into a compound clip or secondary storyline.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the help. I managed to change the frame size but the only option I have for frame rate is 23.98.
The only way I can seem to sync the clips at the moment is to make a compound clip and sync them manually.

[B.J. Ahlen] “Going from 25p to 24p, I’d conform the footage to 24p and slow down the audio to match. That will give you the best quality with no visual artifacts. “
Cheers for the reply. I tried conforming in cinema tools but the speed change was quite noticeable so I just used compressor to output it at 23.98fps.
Seems to work ok so far in a simulation in DVDSP. I’ll burn it to a DVD and test it out.
Thanks

So if trying to achieve a progressive look for an SD DVD that will play in NTSC dvd player go for 24p?
-
so what is the point in the deinterlace section in compressor when exporting mpeg2 for DVD?

No, I am working in HD. I also thought that you could output progressive SD if you wanted to.
