October 30, 2013 at 7:53 pm in reply to: The Saga Of Sony Content Browser.. 2.1 and a very unhappy customerOk we can call me dumb ..All I want to do is after purchasing Sony’s cameras is to be able to convert the footage to Pro Res for use elsewhere. I’m a ( was) consumer of your products, and would like functionality without having to learn what an “Advanced Pack” “Main Concept Encoder pack:” is, or pay to make the camera into a usable item..
Sorry to seem a bit brusk, but this has already taken up 3 hours of my day which is not earning me money.

April 16, 2013 at 9:41 pm in reply to: No support for Sony Content Browser..Now what does one do?Thank you for an excellent overview. I just purchased production suite as I had some files from a Aja Ki Pro that just swamped the Media 100 Suite but played fine in Premiere. I’m getting the impression that M100 is getting a little tired under the hood.
IMHO I was not happy when they started supporting RED which is very upmarket to most of us, coupled with their apparent lack of support for native XDcam I’m getting mixed messages as to their roadmap.
I hope I’m wrong as I’m a M100 die hard.

April 8, 2013 at 9:30 pm in reply to: No support for Sony Content Browser..Now what does one do?Yeah I get the thumbnail error which means I have to click ok for every clip to make it work. Which is not only annoying but time wasting. I downloaded a trial of Premiere and gave it a shot ..Quite nice and speedy, maybe it’s time for a change .

April 8, 2013 at 5:36 pm in reply to: No support for Sony Content Browser..Now what does one do?The old transfer keeps giving me a “The clip thumbnail could not be saved to the cache as it was an unrecognised format.” error message. Which I had read was a ML problem with XD Cam Transfer.
This error message prevents me from importing clips.

Unbelievable, besides the obvious comments that can be made about Sears deplorable attitude I think it is more indicative of an attitude generally towards the creative community.
Since media tools have become so cheap and plentiful,l turning anybody into a “producer” I think our trade has suffered monetarily.
Many companies believe that Suzy secretary can produce professional PowerPoint as part of the job as proficiently as a graphic artist. This we know to be untrue, however they don’t have to pay Suzy secretary which means she does a great job.
The same applies to the video, just because someone owns a camera and editing suite does not mean that they can create a communication piece that effectively delivers the company’s message.
I too often hear the words out of my clients mouth when requesting a major creative change ” you just have to……” As time goes on I see more of this disregard both monetarily and for want of a better word respectfully. Perhaps Sears is just putting on paper what others think, that creativity has no value.
We get paid for what we do making us creative whores, personally I have no desire to be a creative slut 🙂
