Hey again Simon.I really appreciate your taking some time.

    1) Didn’t realize I needed another program to transcode
    2) Didn’t know I HAD to transcode
    3) I will be looking up the word: transcode
    4) I’ve seen the compression pull down menus, but have no idea what they mean
    5) Will look up: compression, too I guess.

As far as the more pressing issue for me (wavy-lined AI files):
    1) I already had the continuous raster button on (from tutorial)
    2) I’m wondering if there is a blur filter or other such smoothing device for just such emergencies (presentation for Wed 2.13) (or is that 13.2 on your side of the pond?)

    Thanks again.

    Export? Export?!

No…I would NEVER expo…….oh, OK. Yeah, I did use the export command…

But you have shown me the errors of my ways. I went back and looked up the use of the render que. For my troubles, I DID get a QT movie that was about 10 ten times bigger than the one I got from exporting, BUT…..I did not notice an appreciable difference in the quality.

Furthermore, I am vexed by the way Illustrator files have an obnoxious wavy quality about them when panning across them. Any fixes for this?

Thanks for taking the time. I really appreciate it.

Thanks very much for your advice. I got it to work! And no, I will not soon forget the title safe zone again.

    New question:
The array of export options is baffling. If I wanted to create a format to burn to be viewed on a DVD player, what is my best option for the highest resolution? The project is set at 640 x 480. I have tried the Quicktime option because I am somewhat familiar with it. I set it to Multi pass, best quality with an H.264 compression and an automatic data rate. And believe me, that is more than I currently understand.

    Thanks again for your help.
