FCPX is sandboxed. You can copy 10.0.9 from your Mac Pro and install it on your Air. Delete 10.1 off the Air first though. And if you’ve already converted projects, you’ll need to step into the bundle and remove the events. It may be a little difficult getting your events and projects back into 10.0.9 format, but I think it’s doable.

Trevor, I’m sorry but this is completely wrong. It’s quite easy to do this kind of output using Roles. That’s what Roles were designed for.

I would approach it similar to you Jeremy. Since Roles can determine the channel in the export, you can make these kinds of edits fairly easily.
Don’t bother disconnecting the audio from the video. Just leave it and assign the Role English to the english full mix channel and INTL for the international channel.
Then when you reach a part with english commentary that you want to lose, use the range tool to select the section in the english channel and hit V to disable it.
Select the same area on the INTL channel (it’s easy if you have snapping on. Hit CMD+C to copy it, and with the playhead at the start range, hit OPT+V to paste the INTL copied sound as a connected clip.
Go through your entire sequence and when you’re done, lasso select all the connected audio and change their Role to English so that when you export, it’s mixed into that channel.

01 – You have finder access to your media. Your media doesn’t need to be in the FCP bundle.
02 – I’ve done it several times and there’s nothing wrong with it at all. It’s just like messing around in the old event folders. Only difference now it that multiple events can be grouped in the same bundle.
03 – I don’t see these as similar or part of a larger strategy. FCP bundles keep things all together making them easier to move from system to system if needed. The library hide was a little more like child-proofing. I don’t understand AVCHD comment.
04 – Not here yet. Rest assured, there will be rejoicing in the streets if this ever gets put back. However, I wonder if they will.
05 – In past versions, the sparse disk served that function. Personally I’m a fan of a more cohesive organizational structure of FCP projects.
06 – I don’t understand this. Can you elaborate?
07 – dupe color doesn’t exist in the timeline, but we now have used clip markers in the event browser. This would seem to serve a similar function (if you’re worried about using the same shots).
08 – Yeah, I think that one’s gone for good. I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t exist in 10.1 if they were going to keep it.
09 – If you want to apply affects to an angle in a multicam, why not just apply it in the angle editor?
10 – Based on your set up, I’d say your RAM is a little low. I have nearly the same set up, but with 32 GB RAM instead of 16. There could be all sorts of problems causing your slow downs. It’s hard to say.

Sorry, I didn’t read your post clearly enough and forgot a step besides. You do need to select the clip in the browser, right-click to Open in Timeline and then apply the color correction there. Its not a destructive step other than you’re adjusting the entire master clip (which is what you want to do anyway).
I don’t have a problem using Open in Timeline with stills so if you are, I suspect there is an issue with the format of the stills. Perhaps you can’t open RAW files in a timeline like that?

You don’t need to put them in a timeline or anything like that. Just select a clip in the browser and open the inspector (CMD+4). Then click on the color correction and correct away.

I noticed that and I thought it was me. I dropped two files onto it and it missed one of them. It was a droplet from the previous version though. Have you tried with any droplets created in the new version?

Well, it shouldn’t have trouble playing uncompressed audio, even at 44.1khz. That’s what it was designed to do after all. But it is strange that you have a video clip where the audio track is 44.1. Digital video files are almost always 48khz or higher. I suppose you could try converting one of your pro res files in Compressor and recompressing the audio to 48khz and see if it makes a difference.
