  • Ah, thanks, of course… it’s so obvious, ha ha.

Can you use most of the same methods on names as you would use on strings, like slice, concat, to upper case… all those goodies?

Also another string related but not very related question here. If you create a UI for after effects that has an edit text field, is the data returned a string? I tried to use one and was having weird troubles when I tried to split the string.

  • Hey Dan, is there a way to do this but to only compare against the suffix of the comp’s name? I know that in string methods you can use -4 to look at only the last four characters of the string, but is it possible to do something similar with an item’s name?

I don’t think I did a very good job explaining that last bit. Say I have the layer that represents the scene I want to have effected by the “master” layer, but I want to have one marker first that would intro the scene, and another later that would transition out of the scene. Would I create a layer for the intro transition, and then another layer for the outro transition? How then would I tell each individual marker which animation it is supposed to play?

Thank you for the help, it is saving me houuurrsss of work!

    Awesome, You are the Maestro.

So, let’s say I have two markers, one for the transition into the scene and one two go out, or even more markers. How would you designate certain markers to be attached to certain keyframes? Can you identify the markers by name?
