”But go into the preset for MPEG-2 ‘DVD Architect video stream’ and set the VBR bitrate and save as your own template.”

Unfortunately Sony Vegas Movie Studio does not allow me to customize the mpeg-2 dvd architect video stream.

Thats why my original question was how can I render in mepg 1 to the best possible quality?

    Thanks for the reply Jeff.

That calculator is recommending a bit-rate of 4080 (i assume that is kbps ?) which it says is within the range of a good quality SD dvd.

So how do I tell sony vegas to use that bit rate?

In the settings for mepg 1, i can specify a constant bit rate, (currently at 1,200,000 bps) or I can allow it a variable bit-rate and specify a maximum, minimum and average.

What do you suggest i do?

Should I specify a constant bit rate of 4,080,000 bps as per the calculator? Does a higher bit rate not increase the size of the rendered video?

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I know how to set up the menu page on DVD-Arch, I think maybe you misunderstood my question!

What I’m saying is that when I create a menu-based DVD and when I place the finished DVD in my DVD player, the DVD just sits there, and doesn’t automatically start playing the MENU page. When i insert a movie rental for example, it starts playing the menu page automatically.

    Do you understand me now?

    Thanks for the reply John,

So when you say you always shoot and deliver in 60i, what settings do you use in Sony Vegas to deliver a dvd in 60i.
Do you select the dvd architect widescreen preset render format?
