Do you mean a TB card? Intel has stated they can’t exist. TB controller must live on the motherboard. Do you mean something different?

Sounds like maybe the soft RAID set got corrupted. Have you tried Disk Warrior on it? I’m not at all sure if DW can repair soft RAIDs, but it is worth a shot. In all likelihood though, the RAID 0 is toast and the data is lost.

The MINUTE I saw the details on Thunderbolt the day it was announced, I immediately lost all my lingering angst about the demise of the Xserve. Imagine, a Mac mini server with essentially PCIe, capacity for 16GB RAM, a quad core i7, all under 100 Watts and for a fraction of the old Xserve’s price!
Now we just Apple to release it!

Promise announced a Thunderbolt Fibre Channel HBA. Whenever the iMac and Mac mini get Thunderbolt, such an adapter would allow them to be Xsan clients.

I’d just like to throw my hat into the ring. We just announced Motion Media Suite, our new turn-key SAN with built-in backup and project-aware archive at NAB this week. Its storage characteristics are ideal for what you are describing, however since we are based on StorNext, your current workstations would not be ideal clients without the capacity to accept a Fibre Channel connection. Still, I think you should consider us along with the fine list Bob posted. You can learn all about Motion Media Suite at our site. I’m a Northwest PA native as well, so I’d be happy to visit your site in Erie to show a demo.

Seriously though, the problem is you either have an IT guy tasked with this who is completely ignorant of the data demands of post production or you have a producer-turned-manager who is completely ignorant of the technology drawing up inadequate budgets and making foolish decisions about storage infrastructure, which you have rightly dubbed the core of post in the 21st century.

Yeah, I know from your myriad rants (which I LOVE) that you feel that way. I wholeheartedly agree. I can’t for the life of me understand why a company whose entire net present value is tied to their content library wouldn’t be investing like crazy in protecting those assets. It takes losing a lot of valuable data to convince most of them.
Nah, let’s blow another half million bucks on “consultants” to figure out what the company’s “brand lens” is…
